 Physical Agility Test

 Test Requirements

​The physical fitnes​s test is required for acceptance into the academy.  The test includes these five events:

  • OBSTACLE COURSE - Run a 99-yard obstacle course consisting of several sharp turns, a number of curb-height obstacles, and a 34-inch high obstacle that must be vaulted​

  • BODY DRAG - Lift and drag a 165-pound lifelike dummy 32-feet

  • CHAIN LINK FENCE - Run 5 yards to a 6-foot chain link fence, climb over fence, continue running another 25 yards

  • SOLID FENCE CLIMB - Run 5 yards to a 6 foot solid fence, climb over fence, continue running another 25 yards

  • 500-YARD RUN - Run 500 yards Student performance times are converted to points.

Students must accumulate a total score of 384 points to graduate from the program.

Minimum score of 300 required for entry into police academy.

Additionally, students will perform physical fitness assessments during the academy consisting of:

  • 1.5 mile run
  • Sit-ups 
  • Pushups 
  • Squat thrusts
  • Pull-ups 
  • Sit-reach (flexibility)

 Optional Workout

The following is a Physical Training Program to help you prepare for the police academy fitness program.

Week 1

(3) Times per week

  • Run 2 miles @ 10 minute mile pace

  • 50 Push-ups

  • 50 Sit-ups

  • 25 Burpees

Week 2 ​

(3) Times per week

  • Run 2.5 miles @ 10 minute pace

  • 10 Pull-ups

  • ·50 Push-ups

  • ·50 Sit-ups

  • ·30 Burpees

Week 3

​(4) Times per week

  • Run 1 mile, sprint the straights, jog the corners @ 8 minute pace

  • 10 Pull-ups

  • 50 Push-ups

  • 50 Sit-ups

  • 30 Burpees

Week 4 (Recovery)

(3) Times per week

  • R​un 2 miles @ 10 minute pace

  • Weightlifting Circuit 2 body parts per day​

For best results, your exercise program should be similar to the descriptions noted above.​

It is very important to get a medical examination and a doctor's approval before starting any physical activity program.​​​
