 Accessing Our Services

The Access & Ability Center seeks to support the academic success of COS students through providing academic accommodations for a variety of conditions,  including mental health conditions (anxiety/depression/other),  mobility and vision impairments, hearing and speech difficulties, learning challenges, ADD/ADHD, acquired brain injuries, intellectual disorders, or any other medical conditions which may create barriers to education.

    Application

    ​To apply for AAC services for the first time, login to the MyGiant student portal​

    • Click on the blue Student Support tab at the top of the page, 
    • Click AAC AIM Portal and 
    • Start a new application draft.
    • Complete the Questionnaire
      • Any question marked with a red asterisk (*) requires a response.
      • If any question requires additional comments, it will be marked as "Additional Comment Required."​
    • Upload verification (if you have it... more info below)
    • Submit application

    To reactivate your previous AAC services, you will need to complete the AAC Reactivati​on Application.

    Verification

    • Be prepared to upload documentation of a disability or qualifying condition via our online application. 

    • Have a licensed or certified professional with knowledge of your disability or condition complete our Verification Form, and upload it to the online application.

    • If you have an IEP or 504 plan from high school, or a copy of your medical records, or can take a photo of a prescribed medication label, you can upload this as verification and you will not need to complete the Verification Form.

    • If no such documentation exists or can be found, a student may begin services if found eligible through a learning assessment.

     

    Appointment

    • After you apply and submit your documentation, your file will be verified for eligibility. 

    • Within 1 to 2 weeks, we will contact you at the number you provided schedule an appointment with an AAC Counselor. ​

    After services have been authorized, it is the student's responsibility to follow-up on services needed.
