Associate Degree for Transfer (SB 1440) Overview

SB 1440 is a joint initiative between the California Community Colleges and California State University to make it easier for students to transfer from the California Community Colleges to the California State Universities (CSUs) in a timely manner.

Benefits when you complete your ADT (AA-T or AS-T) degree at COS:

  • guaranteed priority admission consideration to the CSU system, although not to a specific campus
  • GPA admission advantage when you apply to an impacted CSU campus or program
  • complete the remaining 60 upper division units to earn your bachelor's degree program if you apply and are admitted into a similar degree program
  • count towards comprehensive criteria for UC admission
The following is required for all AA-T or AS-T degrees:
  • Minimum of 60 CSU-transferable semester units.
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 in all CSU-transferable coursework. While a minimum of 2.0 is required for admission, some majors may require a higher GPA. Please consult with a counselor for more information.
  • Completion of a minimum of 18 semester units in an “AA-T” or “AS-T” major as detailed in the Degrees for Transfer section of the catalog. All courses in the major must be completed with a grade of C or better or a “P” if the course is taken on a “pass-no pass” basis (title 5 § 55063).
