While a student at COS, Bronzan set the school record in the mile run. At Cal Poly he was a member of the track team that twice won the National Championship. He was a U.S. Olympic Trials finalist in the marathon. Coach Bronzan has been named NorCal Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2001, California Community College Coach of the Year by the California Track Coaches Association in 1988, the California Community College Coaches Association in 1988, 1999, and 2001, and California Community College Coaches Association Women's Track Coach of the Year in 2000.

While coaching Men's Cross Country at COS the last eighteen years, the team has  placed first or second in conference fourteen times, has been undefeated in winning the last seven CVC conference championships, the Bay Valley Conference title in 2001, and placed in the top ten in the Nor-Cal Championships sixteen times (1st place in 1999, 2000, and 2001, 2nd four times, and eleven times in the top 5 teams). In addition, the men's team has had five individual Nor-Cal Champions in the last nine years.  The 1998 Men's Cross Country team placed fifth in the State Championships, the 2000 team placed fourth, and the 2001 team placed third in the State Meet.  COS was the number one NorCal team in the State Meet for five consecutive years.

Coach Bronzan has been coaching the Women's team for the past seven years and they have placed fifth in the NorCal Championships three times and fourth in 2000.

Bronzan has coached the distance runners, both men and women, during the past seventeen track seasons and has coached many state finalists and 6 individual Nor-Cal Champions. In the past five State Championships, COS men distance runners have had seventeen finalists in the distance events, including a State Champion in the 5000 meters in 2002 and eight finishers in the top four places.  Eleven women distance runners have placed in the State Championships in the 800, 1500, 5000, and 10,000 m. races.

Bronzan says, "I am very proud of what our local distance runners have accomplished in the last eighteen years in cross country and track.  COS is well-respected as one of the strongest distance running programs in Northern California and the State."
