Courses I teach at COS

• Introduction to Philosophy      This course covers basic philosophical questions such as what is the best society to live in, are all of my actions determined by genes and family upbringing,  and must everything I know be based on facts?  We read the original writings of philosophers rather than someone else's interpretation.
  
• Ethics     Consider ethical questions in light of the ideas of various philosophies. We look at what will make most people happy, what will be a consistent rule to make ethical decisions, how one can develop good character.  We read the original writings of philosophers.
  
• Critical Thinking     People are exposed to arguments every day ranging from sales pitches, to political pitches, to family differences. This class increase your skills for making good choices. Critical Thinking transfers to the University of California colleges as a writing course and to the California State University colleges as a critical thinking course.  
• Comparative Religion    Religions have developed in different ways to answer some of the meaningful questions in life. Read essays from the believers of each faith.
  
• Introductory Logic     Logic is a class for students that want to better understand the way of thinking in a math class.  In addition, it is perfect for those going into career related to computer programming and law.  Much of the work in this course will be using symbols rather than common language.
