History of Formal and Symbolic Logic

India developed reasoning with a premise, a reason, an example, an application and a conclusion.

China Hui Shi said, "Great similarities are different from little similarities; these are called the little similarities and differences. The ten thousand things are all similar and are all different; these are called the great similarities and differences."

Greece - Aristotle used a syllogism.     (1) All men are mortal.             (1) All A are B.
                                                        (2) Socrates is a man.               (2) S is an A.
                                                        (3) Socrates is mortal.              (C) S is a B.

Tweedledee If it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be: but as it isn’t, it ain’t.  That’s logic.
