The COS Agriculture program has successfully moved to its new home at the Tulare College Center. The 500 acre farm and campus is located east of Tulare on Bardsley Avenue just past the new Mission Oak High School. The $128 million dollar campus and farming operation houses over 100,000ft2 of instructional space and agriculture laboratories.
The Animals Science and Technology Center contains facilities for beef, sheep, swine and equine species. The campus also has a kennel and surgery center for the veterinarian assistant program. The new campus also has a full service ornamental horticulture facility complete with nursery area for indoor and outdoor plant propagation and growing areas. The unit features green houses, shade structure and laboratory facilities.
The state-of-the-art Equine Unit provides horses for equestrian classes and for the women's equestrian team, which is the only community college team in California. The team competes in IHSA-sanctioned shows with colleges that include California Polytechnic College San Luis Obispo and Stanford University, among others. The Tulare Campus features a new 3,000ft2 animal reproduction laboratory and ultrasound facility.
Building C is a 12,00ft2 welding shop
featuring the latest welding equipment. The facility houses 17 arc welding booths, 24 oxyacetylene stations, plasma cutting machines and recently acquired a robotic welder for training students with the latest in welding technology. The shop also has forges and iron working equipment to support the art welding program.
