Cathy Carlson

  • Background: Cathy has owned her own food safety-consulting firm since 2014, providing services to fresh cut produce and specialty crop industry. She provides on-farm risk assessments, internal audits and guidance in areas such as HACCP, GFSI, GAP, GHP and GMP. She serves as a food safety committee member for the Western Food Safety Summit in Salinas, Ca. Cathy is a farmer herself, farming lavender, culinary herbs and honey. She has worked in various industry roles as a Food Safety Program Manager, QA and Food Safety Manager, Food Safety Project Manager, USDA PPQ GS 7 Regulatory Officer, Water System Operation Manager and more.

Shannan Cooper

She has also worked as an Account Executive for sales in containerboard packaging and recycling, working with ag producers to help get their products to retailers and consumers.

  • Background: Ed has over a decade of experience working at companies as well as consulting in quality assurance and food safety. He has experience as a HACCP Chairman as well as a Process Engineer/Food Safety employee at packaging companies. He has also provided consulting services to many farming operations in the Central Valley.

    Rich is an accomplished bilingual commercial insurance broker, senior level human resources, and training professional with over 17 years of experience in developing and leading HR/Safety Training departments. Rich has a multitude of experience working with compliance and insurance for food processing and agriculture companies. He is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and Agricultural Professional Management Association.

Leticia has facilitated the School Smarts Parent Engagement Program (a program that helps parents help their children succeed in school) and served as President for Willow Glen’s Parent Teacher Student Association.

Alan Landon

Alan has taught 29 years in local public schools.  Early on Alan was involved in teaching high school mathematics and vocational Building Trades classes.  Alan started the Drafting/CAD classes at El Diamante high school in 2005.  Currently Alan is the embedded tutor at COS for Career Technical Education (CTE) courses such as Automotive, Welding, Industrial Maintenance and Environmental Control Technology.

Sarah Motola

  • Background: For the past 20 years, Sarah has worked in English Language Development (ELD)/ESL and Basic Skill development (GED prep) in various public and private sector settings in the Bay Area and the Central Valley of California including Berlitz, Proteus, Global LT, One World Language Solutions and, most recently, National Geographic Learning where she is a presenter and teacher trainer. Currently, she is the lead ESL teacher at Visalia Adult School, where she has taught ESL for the past 10 years, and is an adjunct ESL instructor at College of Sequoias.

Jorge Zegarra

    Jorge is a Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor and Lean & Six-Sigma practitioner.  He is also an Adjunct Lecturer with the Department of Industrial Technology at Fresno State University.
