EOPS Eligibility

1. ​Submit a completed EOPS application by the established deadline;
2. Be enrolled as a full-time student (at least 12 units per semester) at the College of the Sequoias (COS) at the time of admittance;
3. Be a resident of California for at least one calendar year and one day;
4. Qualify to receive a Board of Governors Fee Waiver;
5. Be educationally disadvantaged (meet one or more of the following criteria):
1. Not qualified at the college of attendance for enrollment into the minimum level English or mathematics course that is applicable to the associate degree;
2. Not have graduated from high school or obtained the General Education Diploma (G.E.D.);
3. Graduated from high school with a grade point average below 2.50 on a 4.00 grade point average scale;
4. Been previously enrolled in remedial education; and Other factors set forth by the College of the Sequoias Community College District.
6. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
7. Have not completed more than 40 college units including basic skills and remedial courses;
8. Provide assessment information (COS English & Mathematics Placement Test); and
9. Meet the EOPS Income Criterion (changes on a yearly basis):  

 Add $5,940 for each additional family member

Priorities for Acceptance:

1.  Continuing EOPS students with the greatest need;
2. Continuing EOPS students with the greatest need who are transferring from another EOPS program conducted by a California community college; and
3. First-time EOPS students with the greatest need.
