Circulation and Borrowing

Library Cards

Students registered for a class or classes at COS should obtain a free student ID.  The student ID card is also used as a library card.

Library card/student ID must be presented when borrowing materials. The library card holder assumes responsibility for all materials charged to the library card and is responsible for fines or other costs associated with the card. Lost or stolen cards should be reported immediately.

Book renewals may be done in person, online, or by phone (559) 730-3825.  Items cannot be renewed if the student has overdue materials or library fines.

Late Fees and Lost Items

If fines and fees are not paid, the Library reserves the right to place a hold on the student’s permanent record.  A hold will prevent a student from registering for classes and requesting transcripts. Reinstatement of borrowing privileges is contingent upon return of all late materials and/or payment of fees.

To clear a patron record, the replacement cost of lost items, plus an additional $10.00 processing fee, must be paid at the Cashier’s Office.
