Recommended LRC/Library Syllabus Statement

It is our goal at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) to connect students with the services they need to be successful. In order to do that, we are trying new ways to increase awareness of our services. We would greatly appreciate your help in this endeavor. If you would like to address LRC/Library services in your syllabus, we have developed two optional statements that you can copy and paste into your syllabi.

Option 1:

This class requires students to find information sources for a speech, research paper or project. Appropriate sources include scholarly and peer-reviewed journal articles, scholarly books, and well-respected news magazines and newspapers. The Learning Resource Center (LRC) cos.edu/Library offers a large number of appropriate sources. Librarians are available to help students select and locate appropriate sources. Find a librarian at the Reference Desk in Visalia, Tulare and Hanford; by phone at 737-6179; or by email: askalibrarian@cos.edu. Free tutoring for this course may also be available; find more information at: cos.edu/Library/Services/TutorialCenter

Option 2:

GET HELP @ YOUR LIBRARY! You can access your library account, the online catalog, and electronic databases from the Learning Resource Center (LRC) website at cos.edu/Library. For research assistance, you may contact a librarian at the Reference Desk in Visalia, Tulare and Hanford; by phone at 737-6179; or by email askalibrarian@cos.edu. Free tutoring for this course may also be available; find more information at: cos.edu/Library/Services/TutorialCenter

Note: This is only a recommendation for syllabi and no faculty member is required to add it. However, it is a resource we hope you will share with your students.
