COS students, faculty and staff can access the following databases off-campus through the Internet. Enter databases through the online catalog or call the Library Reference Desk at 737-6179 to obtain a password.
Academic Search Premier is a scholarly resource that contains indexing and abstracts for more than 8,500 journals, with full text for more than 4,600 of those titles.
Biography Reference Bank provides full-text, comprehensive biographical coverage of people in the news and history-makers. It covers over 236,000 individuals with more than 36,000 images.

Country Watch CountryWatch provides a political and economic survey of over 190 countries. It also has updates from United Press International, other news organizations, and the CountryWatch.com staff which cover the latest economic, corporate, and environmental information on a country by country basis as they occur.
CQ Researcher icon CQ Researcher covers in-depth the most current and controversial issues of the day with complete summaries, pros and cons, bibliographies and timelines. (Annual Cost $523)
eBooks_150x75.gif EBSCO eBooks has over 11,700 eBooks (books in electronic format available online and in full-text). To access from off-campus you must create a password while on campus.



EBSCOhost Research Databases  cover a wide range of topics, including: psychology, medical, education, consumer health, military, business, religion and philosophy, and history. Many full-text articles from magazines, journals, newspapers and other resources.
Credo Reference icon CredoReference provides full-text reference books on a wide variety of subjects (Cost $2500)
Academic OneFile Academic OneFile is both authoritative and comprehensive source for peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources. With extensive coverage of the physical sciences, technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects. (Annual Cost $9,732)
Gale U.S. History in Context provides a complete overview of U.S. history that covers the most-studied events, issues and current information combining documents from digital archives, full-text periodicals and journals, reference works, primary documents and scholarly analysis.
Gale Virtual Reference Library provides access to over 200 reference books in full-text on a wide variety of topics including art, science, religion, medicine, history, business, education, law, literature, environment, biography, social sciences and multicultural studies. All titles can be searched simultaneously or individual titles may be selected. (Cost $20,000)
Grzimek's Animal Life includes information on more than 4,000 species, covering topics such as evolution, habitat, behavior, ontology and conservation status.
Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center covers current event topics (the facts, as well as the arguments) and includes topic overviews, statistics, government data and information on legislation.
NewsBank is a full-text database that covers Fresno Bee and several U.S. News Magazines. It also provides easy online access to local, in-state, national and international news sources, including newspapers, broadcast transcripts, newswires, news blogs, news web-only content and video.
ProQuest contains 21 databases covering 8 subject areas: arts, business, health & medicine, history, literature & language, news & newspapers, science & technology, and social sciences (Annual Cost $19,000)
Proquest Career and Technical Education Proquest Career and Technical Education contains vocational and technical magazine articles covering such areas as: computing science, healthcare, building trades, auto mechanics, sales & retail, accounting, graphic design and photography.
Proquest National Newspapers Core Proquest National Newspapers Core includes: Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Christian Science Monitor and The Washington Post.
SIRS (Social Issues Research Series) contains all full-text articles from a variety of newspaper and magazines covering current social issues. (Annual Cost $1440)
ERIC's button ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center provides free access to more than 1.2 million bibliographic records of journal articles and other education-related materials and, if available, includes links to full text. ERIC is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences (IES)
COS Online Book Catalog COS Online Book Catalog provides access to the materials found in the COS Learning Center Library. These materials include, books, periodicals, eBooks, and DVDs.
