COS Tutorial Services

Math Tutorial Center-

The Math Tutorial Center is located north of the main library entrance on the first floor. Trained student tutors and math faculty are available for most classes Monday through Thursday 7:30 am to 7:30 pm and Friday 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Starting in Spring 2008, students who attend the math tutorial center will automatically be enrolled in a noncredit course- Math 400. This allows COS to collect FTES apportionment dollars for the amount of time spent in the lab.

 

Writing Center-

The Writing Center is located north of the main library entrance on the second floor. Trained student tutors and English faculty are available from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to noon on Friday, and some mid-week evening hours.

Starting in Spring 2008, students who attend the writing center will automatically be enrolled in a noncredit course- English 400. This allows COS to collect FTES apportionment dollars for the amount of time spent in the lab.

 

Other Drop-in and One-on-One Tutoring

The Tutorial Center in Lodgepole also has drop-in tutoring for multiple subjects, such as English, Biology, and Chemistry, as well as one-on-one tutoring. Students are scheduled with a qualified tutor to meet on a regular basis for free. Tutors are available for most classes Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. Students may sign up for one hour per day and may meet with a tutor two times a week per subject.

 

Learning Skills Lab-

Located in Lodgepole, this is a great resource for help with basic skills. A student can earn 1-3 units per semester by signing up for the Learning Skills Lab and studying there for the required number of hours.

 

MESA Tutoring & AEWs

Located in Room 5, the MESA Program provides students with academic support, encouragement, and assistance to help them succeed in science/math-based fields.

Tutoring Hours: M-Th 9-3pm, F 9-12

MESA also holds Academic Excellence Workshops (AEWs) for Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1 and Chemistry 1. See http://www.cos.edu/MESA
