David Bronzan, Head Coach

 
 
David Bronzan has enjoyed a life-long involvement with distance running and racing. While a student at College of the Sequoias, Bronzan set the school record in the mile run, and at Cal Poly he was a member of the track team that twice won the National Championship. He was a U.S. Olympic Trials finalist in the marathon.
 
In the fall of 1986 Bronzan returned to the College of Sequoias as an adjunct cross country and track coach. Since then Coach Bronzan has been named Men’s Nor-Cal Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2000 and 2001, California Community College Coach of the Year by the California Track Coaches Association in 1988, the California Community College Coaches Association in 1988, 1999, and 2001, Women’s Nor-Cal Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2008, and California Community College Coaches Association Women's Track Coach of the Year in 2000. In the Fall of 2013 Coach Bronzan was inducted into the California Community College Cross Country and Track and Field Coaches State Hall of Fame.
 
While coaching Men's Cross Country at COS the last twenty-eight years, the team has won its conference championships fourteen of the last twenty years and placed in the top five in the Nor-Cal Championships seventeen times (1st place in 1999, 2000, and 2001, and 2nd place four times). In addition, the men's team has had five individual Nor-Cal Champions in the last fifteen years. In 2001 the Men's Cross Country team placed third in the State Championships, and COS has placed in the top five 4 additional times. COS was the number one Nor-Cal team in the State Meet for five consecutive years, from 1998 – 2002.
 
Coach Bronzan has been coaching the Women's cross country team for the past fifteen years. During that time the Lady Giants have won their conference championship seven times, won the Nor-Cal Championships in 2008, have placed in the top five in Nor-Cal 6 additional years, and have had two individual Nor-Cal Women’s Champions. Bronzan has also coached the distance runners, both men and women, during the past twenty-seven track seasons and has coached 17 individual Nor-Cal Champions,
3 state champions, and twenty-three All-American award winning distance racers.
 
Bronzan says, "I am very proud of what our local distance runners have accomplished in the last twenty-seven years in cross country and track. COS is well-respected as one of the strongest distance running programs in Northern California and the State."
