Registration

When To Register

CONTINUING STUDENT
You are a Continuing Student if you attended COS in the Fall 2011 and/or Spring 2012 Semesters.   (Concurrently enrolled high school students are not continuing students.)  

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE PRIORITY STUDENT - Applies only for Summer/Fall Semesters
You are a High School Graduate Priority Student if you are graduating from high school in the current Spring Semester.  

NEW STUDENT
You are a New Student if you have never attended college.  

RETURNING OR TRANSFER STUDENT
You are a Returning Student if you previously attended COS, but have missed more than one semester (not including summer semester).

TRANSFER STUDENT
You are a Transfer Student if you have completed units at other colleges and/or universities.  

CONCURRENT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT
You are a High School Student if attending COS concurrently with high school.

 

All Students (except Continuing): 
Complete a WEB Application - www.cos.edu   - "New Students Click Here"

APPLY EARLY and allow 2 working days for processing of application  


Continuing Students Priority Registration - Priority is based on COS units completed, GPA and completion of SEP and orientation. 
- Look for your priority registration start time on Banner WEB.  Log In, choose  "Student & Financial Aid", then "Registration," then "Registration Status"  
- You may register at or any time after your registration priority date/time

S.T.E.P.S. ......................................Applies only for Summer/Fall Semesters
- Spring Semester high school graduates have priority registration
- All Required steps must be completed 1 week prior to registration priority dates: 
 Complete WEB Application, Orientation, Assessment Testing and Counseling Ed Plan 

New Students OPEN Registration .................................
- This registration is open to New, Returning, Transfer and Continuing Students
- Complete a WEB Application at least 2 working days prior to registration
- All other required steps must be completed prior to the second semester of attendance:
 Orientation, Assessment and Counseling Ed Plan - See " Registration Checklist

Returning and Transfer Students Registration
- This registration is open to New, Returning, Transfer and Continuing Students
- Complete a WEB Application at least 2 working days prior to registration
- Assessment testing is required if necessary to meet a course prerequisite

Concurrent High School Students Registration

- Complete a WEB Application and submit a High School Permission Form at least 2     working days prior to registration
- Enrollment and health fees are waived up to 6 units - applicable material fees are NOT     waived

Late Registration with Instructor Add Codes
-Once the semester begins, add authorization codes are required and the Wait List will no longer be available .  See the instructor of the class(es) you wish to add for an "add code."  Process late adds on the WEB by first entering the 5-digit CRN and then the 4-digit add authorization code.  If you receive an add code for a class you are still wait listed for, you must click the drop down arrow under option and click on 'web register' then enter the add code.  There is no walk-in registration.  Add codes are valid for a limited time - DON'T MISS THE ADD DEADLINE .

"Late Add" deadlines are strictly enforced. Don't miss the deadline!
