​Civilian Basic Firearms Course

This course will cover the moral and legal aspects of firearms, firearm safety, firearms nomenclature, and practical shooting. This course is for civilians interested in obtaining a Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW) permit and practicum training at the Gun Range.

Note: You must be 18 or older in order to take this class.

This is a not-for-credit course. As such, you will not earn units and the class will not be reflected on your banner schedule or on transcripts.

Cost : $150 per person

Location:
Tuesdays & Thursdays: BICS Training Center, Room 3 (click here for driving directions to the training center)
Saturdays: Visalia PD Gun Range (7400 Ave 328, Visalia, CA)
 
Time : 6 pm-10 pm Tuesday (at COS)
6 pm-10 pm-Thursday (at COS)
8 am-5 pm-Saturday (at Visalia PD Gun Range)
 
Directions to the gun range : From Hwy 198W take Plaza Dr. Exit (Rd 80); Going North, Turn left(west) on Ave 328; Range approx. 3/4 mi. on right
 
Supplies students will need to bring
For Tuesday/Thursday class:
  • Paper and pen for note taking.
For Saturday class (Gun Range):
  • Your firearm, holster, and 200 rounds of ammunition (NO reloaded materials allowed).
*Note: When transporting, the firearm and the ammunition must be located in different areas of the car, aka: NOT TOGETHER.
  • Eye and ear protection.
  • Lunch and drinks for the day.
