Admissions

Advanced Placement Examinations

• College of the Sequoias recognizes high achievement by students who have successfully completed one or more Advanced Placement Examinations as approved by the College Entrance Examinations Board.

• Once scores are sent to the college, students will automatically be granted credit for any Advanced Placement Exams with scores of 3, 4, or 5 which qualify under the College of the Sequoias' policy. The college will confirm the credit granted. Credit granted will be for purposes of the College of the Sequoias' general education certification, graduation, advanced placement in the college's sequence courses, and for curriculum requirements.

Please be aware that other institutions, particularly four-year colleges/universities, may evaluate your Advanced Placement credits differently. Therefore, your COS transcript will only list your AP test name, score, and the number of units we are crediting you.

We encourage you to meet with a COS academic counselor to discuss how potential transfer institutions might use your AP test credits and to assist in planning courses in which to enroll at COS. In addition, we urge you to contact prospective transfer colleges or universities directly, to determine the elective or general education credit you might receive based on your AP credits.

Students should petition, to the Admissions and Records Office, if they choose not to receive credit for AP exams, prior to registration or as soon as possible during the first semester of attendance.

For questions you can email the admissions office at admissions@cos.edu
