The Sociology student studies cultural differences, the family, stratification in society, deviance in society, and social change. Students become more keenly aware of their place in society.  Through the study of sociology, students better understand social behavior in various situations, under various conditions.

Students may take Sociology 1 as a prerequisite for:

• entrance into the COS Registered Nursing Program
• the Human Services Certificate Program
• Consumer/Family Studies Personal Management/Consumer Economics Certificate
• transfer to a four-year college
