EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

Students completing this certificate will acquire skills in recognition of symptoms of illness and/or injury and proper procedures for emergency care.  Successful students of the EMT B course are eligible to sit for the national Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.  State certification and national testing fees will apply.  They are also eligible to enter Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic training, which provides opportunity for career advancement, higher pay, and greater responsibility in providing emergency health care. 

ENTRY-LEVEL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:  Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be prepared for employment entry level positions with ambulance companies and in hospital emergency rooms.  Opportunities for full or part time employment in emergency medical services are available to qualified applicants.

To be able to sit for the national exam students must:

     A.  Be 18 years old

     B.  Complete EMT 251 with a "C" or better

Fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice may be required.  Some local healthcare agencies require background check and urine drug screen prior to clinical placement.

Q: How long is the EMT program?
A:  EMT is one semester long, and one class, EMT 251.
Q: When is the best time for me to take NREMT exam?
A:  It is highly recommended that you take the license exam any time between 1 month to 6 months after completing EMT 251.  
Q: Can I take EMT as a 17-year-old?
A: Yes, you can take the course at 17 years old, but when sitting for your license exam you must be 18 years old.
Q: What is the best way for me to pass the NREMT?
A:  To use test prep practice text for NREMT as possible. The more familiar you are with the types of question on the NREMT, the better you will do.
Q: How much does this program cost?
A:  This program expenses is separated into three parts; pre-class, during class, and post-class. IMG_7094.JPG

 Q: What can i do if I have allowed my license to expire?
 A: You can retake the class or you can have someone sign off your skill checks, will cost money.
