Commercial Music at College of the Sequoias: Computerized Audio I: MIDI (MUS 126a-d) Computerized Audio II (MUS 127a-d), Music Business (MUS 180), Recording Arts I (MUS 181) and Recording Arts II (MUS 182). Additional courses will be added as they are approved by the COS curriculum committee. A Commercial Music Skills Certificate is available for students completing the five Commercial Music courses plus a few additional Music courses. COS is now one of the newest Training Partners with Digidesign, and will be offering the first two official Pro Tools courses: Pro Tools 101 and 110. Enrollment for Pro Tools 101, being offered the first two Saturdays in December, will begin in mid to late September.
The Commercial Music Program enjoys a state of the art control room and studio in the center of the new music building, as well as a newly upgraded twenty workstation Audio/MIDI computer lab running Pro Tools. The COS Music Department hosts a beautiful recording facility in Visalia. With two large recording spaces, and one small completely dedicated recording room, the Commercial Music Program can accommodate the recording needs of a small rock act to a symphony orchestra.
Kim Kamerin currently teaches all Commercial Music courses at COS. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance from UNLV and a Master's Degree in Conducting from UNR. Kim has been a professional musician for well over twenty years and is active as a composer, arranger, and performer. Kim installed, operated, and maintained the ProTools TDM system and the twenty workstation MIDI/Recording Lab at the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he taught for five years before coming to Visalia to start the COS Commercial Music Program in 2001.
