FY 2016/17 Class Offerings

The first tab, below, provides a list of the FKCE classes for which registrations are currently being taken.  The tabs for future quarters are provided to assist you in planning your training hours for the year; however, future classes are subject to change. Registration for future quarter classes are not accepted.

Classes described in English are conducted in English; Classes described in Spanish are conducted in Spanish.

Pre-registration is highly recommended as it enables us to notify you of schedule changes, ensure that we have enough handouts, and that we have sufficient participants to offer the class.  All FKCE Classes are FREE, unless otherwise indicated.

A child you care about has been removed from their home due to abuse or neglect and you are considering taking placement of the child.   There are many things that you need to know in order to make an informed decision, and to ensure that if you take the child into your home, you are able and willing to meet all of the child’s needs.  

We will cover:

  • An overview of the Child Welfare Services and Juvenile Court Systems
  • Care Provider’s Rights & Responsibilities; Children’s & Parent’s Rights
  • Steps to complete a Relative or NREFM placement
  • Concurrent Planning (Reunification and Permanency)
  • Permanency Options (Adoption, Guardianship, and Permanent Planned Living Arrangement)
  • Grievance Rights & 7-Day Notices for removal of child
  • Financial Resources and other available supports & resources
