WHY PRE-REGISTER?

  1. Pre-registering ensures that we have sufficient enrollment to hold the class (classes are canceled if there are very few people pre-registered!).

  2. Pre-registering ensures that you will be notified if the class is canceled, rescheduled, or the room assignment changed.

  3. Pre-registering ensures that if you come to the class, there will be room for you (there is limited seating in the classrooms!).

  4. Pre-registering ensures that there will be enough handouts & Certificates of Participation for everyone.

CHILD CARE / CHILDREN:

Childcare is not available-- please do not bring children to the classes, unless otherwise noted.  Many issues are discussed that may not be appropriate for children and the training rooms are not child-friendly.

PARKING PERMITS - COS Campuses

A parking permit is required for all COS parking lots, except weekends and as otherwise posted.  Temporary permits are $2.00 and may be obtained from Parking Permit machines located at the entrance to most parking lots.  Park face-in only and do not park in reserved parking – citations are issued for violations. Please Note: Parking at COS is limited and sometimes difficult to find -- come early to allow time to find parking and arrive at your class on time.  Persons displaying a handicap placard or with a handicap designated license place parked in a handicap space are NOT required to get a parking permit.

TRAINING HOURS:

These classes can be used to meet the required training hours for Foster Parents in Tulare and Kings Counties. They may also be used for professional growth hours for various employment; however, potential participants are encouraged to check with their employer to ensure that the hours will be accepted.

CERTIFICATES OF PARTICIPATION:

Certificates of Participation are provided for the actual number of hours for which the individual participated in the class.  Please be sure to obtain the Certificate of Participation at the end of the class; neither the Instructor nor the College keeps copies of Certificates of Participation.

FOOD AND DRINK:

  • COS Classes:  Food and drink are not permitted in the COS Classrooms and are not provided, unless otherwise specified.  There are vending machines and snack bars on campus for your refreshment at breaks.
  • Kings County Human Services Agency Classes:   There is access to a soda vending machine, and you are welcome to bring refreshments.
