Business Division

The mission of the Business Division is to educate and train students for employment in the business world while also meeting the lifelong learning and retraining needs of our local community. The courses, certificates, degrees, and majors offered are designed to support the dual transfer and vocational missions of COS.

A broad range of transfer-level courses are available for students seeking to pursue four-year degrees. Associate of science degrees are offered in seven different business areas. Several vocational certificates, requiring from one to four semesters, are available to assist students who are interested in updating business skills or who will enter the job market directly.

With the explosive growth in requests by employers for technology-based job skills, the Business Division provides hands-on experience in: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Java, Java Script, PHP, SQL, Visual BASIC, computer operating systems, World Wide Web, keyboarding, TaxAct tax preparation, QuickBooks, and LexisNexis legal research.

To meet the need for computer experience, the Business Division offers both beginning and advanced course work. The classes are scheduled during days, evenings and weekends. Facilities include four state-of-the art computer classroom/labs and a dedicated computer lab that is staffed with instructional assistants.
