On behalf of the College of the Sequoias Board of Trustees, I am pleased to announce that the process for selecting our new superintendent/president has reached a successful culmination. For the past six months, the district has enlisted the services of the firm Community College Search Services (CCSS) and Dr. Eva Conrad, to assist in this process.

Applications from all interested candidates across the state and nation were solicited during the advertisement period from September through December 2017. The formal screening of all applications and selection of candidates for interviews was conducted this past January and first-round interviews were conducted in early February.

We want to thank the 24 representative members of our faculty, classified staff, students, management and community who served in specific roles on two different interview panels.  We want to thank the many support staff who helped to coordinate the logistics of the process including the public forum presentations conducted by each of the four finalists and the final round of interviews conducted by each finalist with the full COS Board of Trustees.

Finally, we want to offer our sincere gratitude to all the candidates who applied for our leadership position and in particular the four candidates who emerged as finalists. Your interest in serving with College of the Sequoias and efforts to prepare and present yourself to our district validate our belief that COS is an outstanding institution with great traditions and even greater potential for exciting and innovative success in the future.

After careful and thorough consideration the Board has reached consensus to bring forward for appointment to the position of Superintendent/President of the College of the Sequoias Community College District, effective July 1, 2018, Mr. Brent Calvin. At a Special meeting held this morning at 10:00 a.m. the Board acted unanimously to approve this appointment.

Mr. Calvin is a local resident and Redwood High School and College of the Sequoias Alum. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton. He subsequently earned a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from California State University, Dominguez Hills and a second Master's degree in Education Leadership from Northcentral University.
